Road-legal Mercedes-AMG One Hypercar Is Barred From The American Roads – Here Is Why
Mercedes-Benz says it won’t sell any of its limited-edition AMG One hypercars in the United States.
Mercedes said all 275 units that will be made have been spoken for, despite the asking price of $2.72 million each.
Sadly, non of these road-legal Formula 1 hypercars will be sold to American customers because of local regulations.
Mercedes took the decision to offer the car for road usage in Europe, where it meets applicable regulations.
The impressive powertrain that barred One from the US roads is a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 and four electric Motors.
This powertrain generates a combined 1,049-hp, allowing it to achieve a blistering top speed of 217 miles per hour.
The Mercedes-Benz AMG One hypercar is finally entering production nearly five years after the Concept was revealed and two after the first production version was supposed to hit the roads.

In an email sent to AMG One customers in the US last week, Mercedes said certifying the One for sale in the U.S. would have compromised the performance of the car’s Formula 1 powertrain.
“In order to preserve the unique character of its Formula 1 powertrain, we have concluded that meeting US road standards would significantly compromise its performance and its overall driving character.”
We have taken the strategic decision to offer the car for road usage in Europe, where it meets applicable regulations.”
The highly-integrated and impressive powertrain that is making the road-legal Formula 1 vehicle barred from the American roads is a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 and four electric Motors.
This powertrain is the same as that on a Formula 1 car and it generates a combined 1,049 horsepower, allowing it to achieve a blistering top speed of 217 miles per hour.
