Toyota Sold Lots Of EV In Europe In This First Quarter
Toyota sold many more electric cars in Europe in the first quarter of this year than in the same period last year. Why is that? There is more choice.
In the first three months of this year, Toyota sold no less than 85 percent more electric cars in Europe than in the same quarter the previous year. In total, this amounts to 25,640 electric Toyotas. According to Toyota, the growth is primarily due to the introduction of the C-HR+, Urban Cruiser, and the updated bZ4X. 3,701 units of the Toyota Urban Cruiser have been sold this year. The C-HR+ accounted for 3,312 units sold in the first quarter. The Toyota bZ4X reached 12,432 sold cars. The remaining 6,195 electric Toyotas sold are electric versions of models such as the ProAce Max, ProAce, and ProAce City.
In total, Toyota sold 297,581 cars in Europe in the first quarter. That was 0.5 percent fewer than in the same period last year. The Yaris Cross was the most popular Toyota with nearly 56,000 units sold, followed by the Toyota Yaris, of which 43,964 were sold. The Toyota Aygo X accounted for 29,442 cars sold. The Toyota C-HR performed even better with nearly 40,000 units.
