Toyota Announces Hilux Revo GR Sport And A Lowrider Version (Photos)
Toyota announced the Hilux Revo GR Sport in Thailand. There are high-riding and roller-riding versions with sporty elements that have the Gazoo Racing emblem turned inside out.
This is not the first time we see a Hilux GR Sport, as the model appeared in 2018 ago in the form of a limited edition for Brazil, however this time the variant is different, being based on the facelifted Hilux which comes fitted with the more powerful turbodiesel engine.
The Hilux Revo GR Sport comes with red brake callipers up front and drum brakes for the rear axle. 17-inch wheels and street-oriented rubber are offered on the rear-driven truck while the all-wheel-drive option gets 18s and bigger sidewalls for its all-terrain tires. The cabin isn’t all that different between the GR Sport-branded siblings despite a serious pricing difference between the low- and high-riding models.
It also comes with the reinforced SuperFlex Suspension (double wishbones with coil springs and stabilizer bar at the front and 5 sheets of leaf springs at the back) featuring Monotube Shock Absorbers. The low-rider on the other hand has a less sophisticated setup but it sits 23 mm (0.9 inches) closer to the ground, which makes it more capable in terms of handling and less focused on off-roading.
The engine remains the 2.8-litre turbodiesel producing 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) and 368 lb-ft (500 Nm) when combined with the six-speed automatic transmission. Toyota still teases a more powerful GR Hilux which may be equipped with the 4.0-litre V6.
