EFCC Arrest Naira-throwing Yahoo Boys In Benin, Seizes 13 Cars, Including 7 Lexus’, 3 Mercedes

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) arrest Naira-throwing Yahoo Boys in Benin.

Items recovered from the suspects include laptop computers, phones, documents and thirteen (13) Lexus-brand dominated luxury cars.

In all, EFCC recovered 7 Lexus cars, 3 Mercedes-Benz vehicles, two Toyota’s cars and a Range Rover SUV.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Benin Zone, has arrested and charged 31 suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo Boys for cyber related crimes.

According to the law enforcement agency, the suspects were arrested on Sunday, September 12, 2021, in two separate locations in Benin City sequel to actionable intelligence.

Among those arrested were fraudsters who were seen in a viral video few weeks ago standing on top of “their cars and throwing bundles of Naira notes into the air at a popular Plaza in Benin City”

In a statement, the EFCC said :

“They had embarked on a similar mission at the same venue on Sunday before they were intercepted by operatives of the Commission at the exit gate.

The other suspects were arrested at their hideout in Benin City.”

Items recovered from the suspects at the point of arrest include laptop computers, phones, documents, identity cards and thirteen (13) Lexus-brand dominated luxury cars.

The 13 luxury cars recovered from the suspects include a Lexus ES 350, Lexus 350, Lexus RX 350, Lexus ES 350, Lexus RX 350 and Lexus RX 350 Crossover SUV.

Others are Lexus IS 350, Toyota Venza SUV, Mercedes-Benz C300, Mercedes ML350, Range Rover Evoque SUV, Mercedes GLK 350 4Matic and a Toyota Camry.

According to the EFCC, the suspects have made useful statement and will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are completed.
