Ben Bruce’s upcoming Lucid Air Dream electric car will drive a record-breaking 520-miles of range on a single charge.

Lucid Air Dream bests the longest-range Tesla, the Model S Long Range Plus, by over 100 miles.

In addition, all variants of the Air will be able to recuperate 300 miles of range in just 20 minutes at a DC fast charger.

The Lucid Air is designed to rival luxury electric vehicles like Porsche Taycan, Audi E-tron, Jaguar I-Pace, Volvo Polestar and Tesla sedans.

Back in April, 2021, Nigerian business magnate and founder of Silverbird Group, Ben Murray-Bruce (Ben Bruce) announced he had ordered the Lucid Air EV that he said will be delivered in 2022.

The announcement was followed by his tweet, urging the Federal Government to ban polluting internal combustion engine (ICE) cars by 2035.

“In practising what I preach, I recently put a deposit on this yet to be manufactured Lucid Electric Car. Delivery is early next year. It’s capable of more miles per charge than a Tesla. An amazing machine. Nigeria should ban all combustion Engine cars by 2035”.

Now, Lucid Motors has announced that the Lucid Air Dream Edition R has been awarded an official EPA rating of 520 miles (836 km) of range on a single charge, making it the longest-range EV ever rated by the agency.

When it arrives at the dealerships, the electric sedan would be the longest range production EV on the market, besting the longest-range Tesla, the Model S Long Range Plus, by over 100 miles. With a full charge, you could go from Los Angeles to San Francisco and back — a 445-mile trip — with 72 miles to spare.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) also rated the various trim levels of the electric vehicle, including the 933-hp Dream Edition R, 1,111-hp Dream Edition Performance and the Grand Touring, with 800 horsepower.

The Dream Edition is equipped with 19-inch wheels and 21-inch wheels will go 520 miles and 481 miles respectively. Dream Edition Performance goes 471 miles with 19-inch wheels and 451 miles with 21-inch wheels. Grand Touring will drive 516 miles with 19-inch wheels and 469 miles with 21-inch wheels.

In addition to the record-breaking range, all variants of the Air will also be able of recuperate 300 miles of range in just 20 minutes at a DC fast charger.

Top-of-the-range four-wheel-drive Dream Edition starts at $161,500. The 1080hp car comes with bespoke interior features. It is capable of sprinting from 0-60mph in 2.5sec.

First unveiled in 2020, the Lucid Air is designed to rival luxury electric vehicles, including Porsche Taycan, Audi E-tron, Jaguar I-Pace, Volvo Polestar and Tesla sedans.

The Dream Edition is currently not available to order. The base model starts at $77,400, but buyers from Nigeria will have to splash nearly twice the price when destination and clearing charges are added.
