Marine Bridge, Lagos, Will Be Closed For Emergency Repairs

Marine Bridge will be partially closed by the Lagos State government to allow the Federal Government to perform routine maintenance on the bridge.

From Monday, January 17 to Saturday, April 2, 2022, the facility will be closed.

According to Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, the state Commissioner for Transportation, the bridge will be temporarily closed in two phases: the Apapa Outbound section will be repaired between January 17 and March 19, 2022, and the Apapa Inbound section will be repaired between March 10 and April 2, 2022.

Outbound traffic Motorists in lighter vehicles will be diverted to Marine Beach by Mobil Filling Station to connect to Ijora Bridge or use the Service Lane by Leventis to connect to Naval Dockyard to connect to Total Under Bridge and continue their journeys.

During the second phase of the rehabilitation works, traffic will be diverted to allow contraflow of traffic between Total Bridge and RRS Point for inbound Apapa motorists, according to the Commissioner.

Motorists in lighter vehicles will be allowed to descend to Total Under Bridge and connect to Marine Beach via Mobil Filling Station via Fire Service Road, while those heading towards Apapa will take a detour and connect to Area B via NAGAFF via Mobil Filling Station Service Lane.

While assuring that palliative repair works have been carried out on all of the aforementioned alternative routes to alleviate the effect of the traffic situation, and that Lagos State Traffic Management personnel have been deployed to manage the diversion plan, the Commissioner urged motorists to exercise caution during the repair works, noting that the project’s goal is to provide quality and safe road infrastructure for everyone in the state.
