Due to a software mistake, the rearview camera may not display the rearview image, increasing the risk of a collision. Since the 2019 model year, backup cameras have been required by law.
The solution for dealers is straightforward: they will provide free software updates for rearview cameras. Mercedes will begin notifying owners on June 7, but anyone with additional questions can contact the automaker at 800-367-6372, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or go to the manufacturer’s website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
