Bentley Recalls 1,923 Bentayga SUVs Over Incorrectly Installed Second-row Seats

Bentley recalls 1,923 Bentayga SUVs over incorrectly installed second-row seats that could move in the event of crash.
The affected models are 5-seat Bentley Bentayga SUVs manufactured between July 10th, 2020 and February 22nd, 2022.
To fix the problem, owners will take their vehicles to authorized retailers to check and re-set the relative 2nd row seat rail positions.
The British luxury car marque said the operation will take under one hour to complete.
Bentayga SUV priced between $166,425 and $262,125 is currently the Bentley’s best-selling model.
Bentley has officially filed a safety recall with the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA) for 1,923 Bentaygas due to incorrectly installed second-row seats that could move in the event of crash, compromising rear-passenger safety.
According to the Safety Recall Report by the British luxury car marque, the affected models are 5-seat Bentley Bentayga SUVs manufactured between July 10th, 2020 and February 22nd, 2022.
Bentley, which first became aware of this issue in January of 2022, following a sled test for a new project, blamed the fault on an assembly and not on an incorrectly manufactured parts.
“The reason for recalling affected vehicles relates to a build process concern and not a fault with parts. As such, it is not anticipated that any parts will need replacing,” notes the Crewe-based automaker in the attached report.
Bentley also notes that it had no idea how to install the seat railings procured through Swiebodzin-based Adient Poland.
“Production was unaware of the published supplier assembly and installation instructions. Seat rails were moved in production without knowledge of the potential consequences.”

To fix the problem, Bentayga owners, who will be notified on May 16th, will take their vehicles to authorized retailers to check and re-set the relative 2nd row seat rail positions to ensure proper engagement of the seat rails. Bentley said the operation will take under one hour to complete.
The ultra-luxury Bentayga SUV is currently the British automaker’s best-selling model, despite the price range of $166,425 for the V6-engined Bentayga Hybrid and $262,125 for the W12-powered Bentayga Speed.
