GM Sent 50 Chevrolet Tahoe SUVs To War-torn Ukraine To Help Evacuate Civilians

General Motors (GM) sent 50 full-size Chevrolet Tahoe SUVs to war-torn Ukraine to help evacuate civilians.
GM partnered with Maersk to get the 50 Chevrolet Tahoe SUVs out of the United States and into Ukraine.
The Tahoe SUVs were moved into Ukraine via a military hub in Rzeszow, Poland.
From there, the 50 full-size Chevrolet Tahoe SUVs were delivered to the Ukrainian government.
Last month, General Motors (GM) happily obliged to Ukraine’s month-long request by sending vehicles to help move its civilians out of active areas of conflict throughout the country.
According to company spokesperson George Svigos, GM partnered with global shipping company Maersk to get fifty (50) full-size Chevrolet Tahoe SUVs out of the United States and into Ukraine.
By April 22, GM had 50 full-size Chevrolet Tahoe SUVs on a truck at the Ukrainian border, waiting to be moved into Ukraine via a military hub in Rzeszow, Poland. From there, the vehicles were delivered to the Ukrainian government.
Svigos told the Detroit Free Press that :
“The vehicles will be used to assist with humanitarian aid in the region. The decision to donate vehicles was made following a request from the Embassy of Ukraine in Washington.”
The 50 full-size Chevrolet Tahoe SUVs, which are not part of the pool made to sell in the U.S., had now been Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure for humanitarian aid.
Besides the donation of the SUVs, GM also donated $250,000 to support humanitarian aid in the region. It also matched U.S. employee contributions up to $50,000 to specific nonprofit organizations.
GM had earlier suspended vehicle imports and commercial activity in Russia on Feb. 28, just days after its invasion of Ukraine. The United States Autogiant no longer has any manufacturing plants in Russia.
