Maserati reveals track-only MCXTrema, the Italian sports car brand’s most powerful model yet with 730-hp.

Based on the MC20, the track-only MCXtrema has been conceived as a spiritual successor to the MC12 racer.

It is powered by 3.0-liter twin-turbo Nettuno V6, which generates 730-hp — about 109-hp more than the road-going MC20.

The track-only MCXtrema is limited to 62 units, all of which have been spoken for despite the starting price of £936,000.

Italian racing cars and sports cars manufacturer, Maserati has revealed the all-new exclusive MCXtrema. Unveiled at The Quail during Monterey Car Week, the MCXtrema arrives as the brand’s most powerful model yet.

Based on the Maserati MC20, the the track-only MCXtrema supercar has been conceived as a spiritual successor to the legendary Maserati MC12 racer of the early 2000s.

Just like the Maserati MC20 it is based on, the “MC” stands for Maserati Corse, while the “Xtrema” is the absolute emotion the 62 will own.

Weighing 1300kg, the mid-engined hypercar is powered by 3.0-liter twin-turbo Nettuno V6, which generates the power of 730 horses (109-hp more than the road-going MC20) and 538 pound-feet of torque.

Inside, the driver gets a racing seat (plus an optional passenger seat) with a 6-point belt and roll cage to ensure the utmost safety. The racing-style steering wheel has a 5-inch central display, buttons, rotary selectors and ergonomic grip.

“Maserati MCXtrema was created with the aim of offering an incredibly exclusive product that can set a new paradigm for our track cars,” said Maserati CEO, Davide Grasso.

“MCXtrema embodies the sporting spirit typical of Maserati’s DNA, a declaration of a new pathway for our brand, devoted to superlative manufacturing and able to stand out in the world of luxury engine production with uncompromising performance.”

The track-only MCXtrema is limited to 62 units, all of which have been spoken for despite the starting price of £936,000 before options. Production of the Maserati MCXtrema starts in the second half of 2024.
