Updated Mercedes S-Class arrives with large, illuminated grille and star bonnet-ornament, new DIGITAL LIGHT twin-star headlamp.

Mercedes-Benz on Thursday January 29th 2026 pulled the covers off the facelifted, seventh generation of the S‑Class (W223), as part of activities to celebrate 140 years since Carl Benz’s invented the automobile in 1886.
The refreshed flagship sedan has more than 50 percent of its parts (around 2,700 components) new or reengineered, making it “the biggest refresh that we have ever done in the history of the S-Class”.

On the exterior, the new S‑Class, for the first time, gets an illuminated grille, now enlarged by around 20 per cent and accented with redesigned, three-dimensional chrome stars.
In addition, the S‑Class reinforces its identity with a new DIGITAL LIGHT twin-star headlamp, a newly designed taillights with three chrome-framed signature stars as well as an optionally illuminated Mercedes star bonnet-ornament.

Inside, the MBUX Superscreen now combines a 12.3-inch instrument display, a14.4-inch central display and the 12.3-inch passenger display as a single piece – all running on the latest Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), featuring a fourth-gen MBUX.
Rear Seat Passengers also gets two 13.1-inch rear entertainment touchscreens with inbuilt cameras for video conferencing plus two detachable MBUX remote controls – transforming the “rear cabin into a fully connected workplace or serene personal retreat”.

The new S-Class range includes the S 350 d 4MATIC, the S 450 4Matic with 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder petrol engine, the S 580 L 4Matic with a new flat-plane-crank 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V8, as well as the S 580 e 4MATIC and S 450 e, both with EQ Hybrid Technology.
In addition to the standard S-Class, the flagship Mercedes-Benz sedan will be offered in AMG and AMG Line Plus trims with sportier styling elements, along with the armored Mercedes-Benz S 680 GUARD 4MATIC with VR10, the highest civilian protection level.
