Vagabund Transforms Two MINI Countryman S Into Mobile Sound Stages With Speakers, Tweeters And Subwoofers
Vagabund transforms two MINI Countryman S into mobile sound stages with speakers, tweeters and subwoofers.
BMW-owned British automaker, MINI, in collaboration with Austrian design studio, Vagabund, has unveiled two unique one-off vehicles based on the MINI Countryman S ALL4 models.
For this creative collaboration, MINI provided the two MINI Countryman S ALL4 models finished in Midnight Black and Melting Silver while Vagabund contributed their creative signature by turning the popular Crossover into a mobile sound stages.
To create these mobile sound stages, Vagabund removed the rear side windows of the Countryman models and replaced it with a specially-developed sound system designed specifically for outdoor sound projection.
Fitted into this bodywork are tweeters and mid-range speakers, while additional subwoofers in the rear deliver a powerful punch when the tailgate is opened. Also, an iconic Walkman is integrated into a 3D‑printed housing on the opposite side of the vehicle.
“For us, design does not begin with the object, but with the idea behind it – and it only ends when that idea becomes tangible. The MINI x Vagabund one-offs translate a clear concept into an experiential statement,” explains Paul Brauchart, Co-Founder and Head of Creative Vagabund.
Both concepts are two distinctive characters, with each having the ability to function as an independent sound system, though MINI notes that both show cars form a mobile stage and creates an immersive audio experience together.
In addition, both vehicles also gets distinctively reworked wheel arches, VAGABUND lettering along the side sills, new roof rack that consists of three laser-cut and folded aluminium plates and rides on 20‑inch wheels.
Following their premiere at the upcoming Auto China 2026 in Beijing, MINI plans to bring the models closer to people live and in action across a wide range of platforms – staying true to the community-driven approach.
“Through our collaboration with Vagabund on these two vehicles, we were able to once again showcase our attention to detail and technical craftsmanship in a striking way,” said Holger Hampf, Head of MINI Design.
