EFCC Arraigns Car Dealer For Failing To Pay Full Cash For A VW Bus He Bought For ₦2m
EFCC arraigns used car dealer for fraud in Gombe, fails to balance up a VW bus he bought for N2 million.
He offered to pay N1,200,000 in two weeks, and promised to balance in four equal installments.
After taking possession of the bus, the culprit only paid N500k, instead of the initial N1.2m he promised to pay.
And all efforts by the complainant to recover the balance or his vehicle proved abortive.
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Gombe Zonal Command, has arrested a used car dealer, Ahmadu Dauda Jadda, for failing to pay the full cash for a car he purchased for 2 Million Naira.
The culprit was arraigned before Justice J.A. Awak of Gombe State High Court on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, on a one count charge of stealing to the tune of N2,000,000 (Two Million Naira only).
According to the EFCC, Jadda had approached the complainant to purchase a Volkswagen Sharon at N2,000,000. He offered to pay N1,200,000 in two weeks, and promised to balance in four equal installments.
After taking possession of the vehicle, the defendant only paid N500,000, instead of the initial N1,200,000 he promised to pay, and all efforts by the complainant to recover the balance or his vehicle proved abortive.
Investigation by EFCC revealed that the defendant upon taking possession of the vehicle, promptly sold it and diverted the proceed for personal use. Upon arraignment, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Thereafter, his counsel, Ayuba Rabiu, applied for his bail which was granted in the sum of N2,000,000 (Two Million Naira only) and a surety in like sum.
