Mercedes-Benz Begins Production Of The All-New GLB In Its Hungary Plant

The all-new 2026 GLB will begin at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét, Hungary, in December 2025. The fully electric version with EQ technology and the modern hybrid variant will be flexibly produced on the same production line.
The Kecskemet factory is part of the European MMA production network along with the Rastatt factory, and the new GLB will be the second model on the new MMA platform to be produced there. The plant, which employs around 4,500 workers, opened in 2012.
Mercedes’ production facilities achieved carbon neutrality back in 2022. The company plans to cover more than 70 percent of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2030, and the goal is for all production facilities worldwide to operate with 100% renewable energy without CO₂ emissions by 2039.
Work is underway to expand photovoltaic systems throughout the facility, and the site is also focusing on continuously reducing water and waste consumption.
