Travel Advisory: June 2021
Several bandit cells have been noted operating in this state, carrying out kidnap for ransom operations.
In areas like Tashar Labo village, Sabuwa LGA, Unguwar Bera and Tashar Mangoro villages are areas of interest, having recorded incidents of co-ordinated gunmen attacks.
Due to the increased levels of bandit activity, kidnap risk for travellers is high, particularly along highways and in villages with low government security force (GSF) presence such as Kadisu, Hayin Kasuwa among others.
Armed criminal groups may create bogus checkpoints to extort and abduct travellers, and as such, travellers are advised to be on guard to identify and evade such checkpoints.
High levels of armed robbery and violent crime have also been recorded within the state and should be considered while making travel preparations.
A drilled, high risk, travel security plan is advised to ensure personal safety during travel and general travel should be conducted between the times of 0800hrs-1600hrs.
