A Weird Volvo 240, A One Time Recipient Of “Safety Car Of The Year”, Turn Heads On The Nigerian Road
A Volvo 240, a one time recipient of the “Safety Car of the Year” and “Car of the Year”, turn heads on the Nigerian road.
In addition to the raised rear end, this vehicle now rides on four tyres at the rear while the lowered front still has two.
Unlike what Volvo and the 240 is known for, this creation looks unfit to be on the road as it lacks many safety features.
A weird Volvo 240, a one time recipient of the “Safety Car of the Year” has turn heads on the Nigerian road, following series of awful body modifications to create more space for extra luggages.
In addition to the raised rear end, this locally-reconstructed vehicle (likely used for cross-border smuggling) now rides on four tyres at the rear while the lowered front still has two.
Unlike what Volvo and the 240 is known for, this six-wheeled creation looks unfit to be on the road as it lacks many safety features, including headlights, which ensure that you can see at night and that other drivers can see you.
The Volvo 240 gained reputation for its crash safety properties, combined with the fine driving characteristics, which attracted attention when the car appeared on the market the world over.
The Volvo 240 was the first car in the world to be fitted with a catalytic converter and Lambda sond. In addition, the 240 has probably received more distinctions than any other car in the world, including “Car of the Year”, “Family Car of the Year” and “Safety Car of the Year”.
“There is often beauty in functionality. Natural, uncomplicated solutions based on sound common sense are often the most attractive ones as well,” says Jan Wilsgaard, the man behind the Volvo 120, the Volvo 140 and the Volvo 240.
