NAF Takes Delivery Of Russian Mi-171E Helicopter To Fight Boko Haram

Nigerian Airforce (NAF) takes delivery of Russian Mi-171E transport Helicopter to fight Boko Haram terrorism and banditry.
The multipurpose helicopter is the second Mi-171E procured by the current Federal Government.
Mi-171E Helicopter can fly at a maximum speed of 250km/h and has a maximum operational ceiling of 6,000m.
The Nigerian Airforce (NAF) has taken delivery of a Mi-171E helicopter that will aid its fight against terrorism and banditry.
The Ilyushin 76 Strategic airlifter that brought the helicopter touched down at NAF Base Makurdi at exactly 3.15pm on Wednesday.
Announcing the purchase on its official twitter account on Wednesday, the NAF said the new aircraft is the second Mi-171E helicopter that has been procured by the current Government.
NAF added that the aircraft will boost its contributions in the fight against insurgency; armed banditry and other criminal activities in the country.
“The new aircraft is the second of two Mi-171E helicopters procured by the current Federal Government and brings to 23 the total number of brand new aircraft acquired since 2015.”
“The new aircraft will undoubtedly boost NAF’s contributions in the fight against insurgency, armed banditry and other criminal activities in the country.”
“The newly-received aircraft will now be assembled in Makurdi by a team from the equipment vendor, assisted by NAF technicians, before test-flying and formal induction into the NAF.”
The multipurpose helicopter can be deployed in search-and-rescue (SAR) missions, disaster response, forest fire-fighting and medical assistance in the field.
Mi-171E Helicopter can fly at a maximum speed of 250km/h and has a maximum operational ceiling of 6,000m. It can operate in temperatures ranging between 50°C and -50°C.
