Governor Sanwo-Olu Inspects A CNG-powered Vehicle On Display At Lagos State Energy Summit

Governor Sanwo-Olu inspect one of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered vehicles on display at Lagos State Energy Summit.
The CNG-powered vehicles were converted by the Lagos State Government-owned IBILE Oil and Gas Corporation (IOGC).
Gesture underscores the LASG’s openness to sustainable transport solutions aimed at reducing emissions and lower costs.
According to PCNGi, over 30,000 vehicles have now been successfully converted to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday took part at the inaugural Lagos State Energy Summit, where the State Government’s representatives are meeting with policymakers and experts in the energy sector to discuss the State’s 2030 Energy Vision.
At the Lagos Energy Summit, Sanwo-Olu took a moment to inspect one of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered vehicles on display, which was converted by IBILE Oil and Gas Corporation (IOGC), a clear nod to the growing momentum behind Nigeria’s clean energy transition.
“This powerful gesture underscores the Lagos State Government’s openness to sustainable transport solutions that not only reduce emissions, but also lower costs for everyday Nigerians,” said Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi).
“With forward-thinking leadership and a shared national vision, CNG is no longer just an alternative — it’s becoming the mainstream choice for a cleaner, greener, and more affordable future.”
“We are inspired by the Governor’s interest and encouraged by the alignment of state-level leadership with the broader national drive for energy reform,”
From just seven (7) at the inception of the programme, Nigeria now boasts more than two hundred (200) conversion centres nationwide under the Conversion Incentive Programme, which was launched in August 2024.
According to the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi), over thirty thousand (30,000) vehicles have now been successfully converted to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
