Two SUV Models Are Being Recalled By Ford Because Of A Potential Brake Issue

Ford has decided to recall two SUV models produced between 2022 and 2024 due to doubts about the brakes’ reliability. The company received dozens of service reports suggesting a potential problem with the braking system.
The recall includes nearly 274,000 Ford Expedition and luxury Lincoln Navigator vehicles in the US due to a defect that could lead to the loss of the braking function while driving, increasing the risk of traffic accidents.
According to documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the front brake pipes on these vehicles could be in contact with the engine air intake and exhaust pipes, the result of a possible incorrect installation method. This contact may cause brake fluid leakage and/or loss of braking function.
The recall affects 223,315 Ford Expedition vehicles and 50,474 Lincoln Navigators manufactured between 2022 and 2024. Ford estimates that approximately one percent of the vehicles actually have this defect, according to the recall report.
The company says that so far, no accidents or injuries have been reported related to the problem, but as of April 17, there were 45 reports of brake fluid leaking from the front pipes.
As a solution, authorized Ford and Lincoln dealers will inspect the front brake lines on affected vehicles and replace or repair them, along with the air intake lines, free of charge. Notifications for repairers started going out on Wednesday, while letters to owners are scheduled for May 26-30.
Drivers can now check if this recall covers their vehicle through the official NHTSA website or Ford’s recall checker tool. Ford’s internal number for this recall is 25S47.
The documents also state that drivers may notice increased brake pedal travel, meaning more braking force will be required. If there is a brake fluid leak, the fluid level will decrease over time, which can activate a red warning on the instrument panel.
