Electric S-Class Covers 1,205-km Trip From Germany To Sweden On A Single Charge
Mercedes-Benz EQS with a solid-state battery covers 1,205-km trip from Germany to Sweden on a single charge.
The electric range far exceeds the 800 km (497 miles) provided by the 118 kWh battery pack in the regular EQS 450+.
It allowed up to 25 percent more driving range, compared to the same battery weight and size of battery in the standard EQS.
The modified EQS surpassed the previous record set by the Vision EQXX on its Stuttgart–Silverstone route by 3-km.

A Mercedes-Benz EQS (electric S-Class) test car fitted with a new prototype lithium-metal solid-state battery (SSB) has completed its trip from Stuttgart in Germany to Malmö in Sweden without a single charging stop.
This battery with lithium-metal cells from U.S.-based manufacturer Factorial Energy allowed the EQS to complete the 1,205-km (749 miles) trip, with an impressive range of 137 km (85 miles) remaining.

This impressive electric range across three countries (Germany, Denmark and Sweden) with no charging stops far exceeds the 800 km (497 miles) provided by the 118 kWh battery pack in the regular Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+.
“The solid-state battery is a true gamechanger for electric mobility. With the successful long-distance drive of the EQS, we show that this technology delivers not only in the lab but also on the road,” said Markus Schäfer, Mercedes Chief Technology Officer, Development & Procurement.

The solid-state battery allowed the slightly modified EQS to surpass the previous record set by the Vision EQXX on its Stuttgart–Silverstone route by three kilometres (1.9 miles).
The prototype solid-state battery uses a solid electrolyte instead of a liquid one, which enhances cell safety and allows for the use of new anodes like lithium metal. It allowed up to 25 percent more driving range, compared to the same battery weight and size of battery in the standard EQS.
