Anthony Joshua’s Driver Charged For “Reckless Driving”, “Driving Without Valid Driver’s Licence”

Boxing Champ Anthony Joshua’s driver charged for “reckless driving” and “driving without a valid driver’s licence”.
FRSC reveals that the Lexus Joshua was traveling in lost control during an overtaking manoeuvre before colliding with a stationary truck.
While the driver and Joshua got injured, the latter’s strength coach Sina Ghami and trainer Latif Ayodele lost their lives.
Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, the driver behind the wheels of Lexus SUV involved in the December 29th 2025 fatal crash that injured Anthony Joshua has been charged for reckless driving and driving without a valid driver’s licence.
The Ogun State Police Command made this known in an X post, noting that the 46 year old driver was charged on Friday 2nd January and the case has been adjourned to 20th January 2026.
“Update: The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the Anthony Joshua accident case, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode (male), aged 46, was charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court today, 2nd January, 2026 and the case has been adjourned to 20th January, 2026,” the Command said.
While the driver and the former two-time heavyweight champion seated on the same side suffered injuries in the horror crash, Joshua’s strength coach Sina Ghami and trainer Latif Ayodele lost their lives.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), investigations reveals that the Lexus Joshua was traveling in collided with a stationary truck after losing control during an overtaking manoeuvre.
“Preliminary findings indicate that the Lexus Jeep, which was suspected to be travelling beyond the legally prescribed speed limit on the corridor, lost control during an overtaking manoeuvre and crashed into a stationary truck well packed by the side of the road.”
“The primary causes of the crash being excessive speed and wrongful overtaking constitute serious traffic violations and remain among the leading causes of fatal road crashes on Nigerian highways.”
“A total of five adult males were involved in the crash. Two persons sadly lost their lives, one sustained injuries, while two others escaped unhurt. Anthony Joshua was rescued alive and sustained minor injuries.”
