China’s Jaecoo 7 Dubbed ‘Temu Range Rover’ Was Britain’s Second Best-selling New Car In January

The new Jaecoo 7 was the sixth-best-selling vehicle UK in December and the second most-popular car in January with 4,850 registered cars, proving that the Chinese SUV is attracting more buyers than the new Mini Cooper, Tesla Model 3 and Nissan Juke.
Despite the model only launching in UK showrooms in January 2025, the Jaecoo 7 recorded 30,100 sales last year, peaking as the fourth best-selling car in September with 6,489 registrations, according to data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Jaecoo 7 is affectionately named the “Temu Range Rover” due to its price appeal, costing just £30,115 or almost half the price of a Range Rover Velar SUV – which starts at over $61,600 and reaches over $80,000 for top-tier trims like the Autobiography.
Priced from £30,115, the Jaecoo 7 (J7) is available in several petrol and plug-in hybrid (PHEV/SHS) variants, with the Jaecoo 7 SHS priced from just over £35k emerging the top-selling plug-in hybrid model (PHEV) in UK in August.

One ‘Temu Range Rover Mum’ told Daily Mail that she saves ‘a lot of money with her Jaecoo 7 SHS compared to the Range Rover she used to own : “The Jaecoo only costs £60 to fill up and lasts forever, versus about £100 for the Range Rover.”
“Alongside the availability of a conventional ICE [internal combustion engine] powertrain, the Jaecoo 7 range reflects the brand’s commitment to offering variety as UK drivers navigate the transition to electrification at their own pace,” Jaecoo said.

In Google UK’s 2025 annual search rankings, JAECOO was named the most-searched Chinese automotive brand while related keyword “Jaecoo Cars” also ranked among the most frequently searched terms in several European countries.
As Gary Lan, CEO of JAECOO UK, said : “Being recognized by Google as the most-searched Chinese automotive brand in the UK is an important milestone. It shows that consumers are actively seeking brands that offer new answers in design, technology, and overall value.”
