Four Die, Others Sustain Injuries In Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Accident
Four persons were confirmed dead while four others sustained severe injuries in an accident, in Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Ogere, Ogun.
The Spokesman for Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) Babatunde Akinbiyi made this known to reporters in Abeokuta on Thursday.
According to Akinbiyi, the accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday at 4:30 a.m. It involved a Man Diesel truck with plate number TKP 653 XA conveying people and also loaded with tubers of Yam.
The TRACE Spokesman disclosed that the accident involved 14 people comprising 13 male and one female, saying that four male died while four other male sustaining injuries.

“I learnt the vehicle was coming from the North inbound Lagos and loaded with yam.
“The casualty was much because some of the passengers who are also likely owners of the yam were seating on the yam in the open space at the back.
“The truck lost control due to excessive speed and poor visibility; fell by its side with the yam and the vehicle fell on them,” Akinbiyi said.
He, however, urged motorists to be careful with their vehicles by avoiding over speeding and night travel if possible. The spokesman further stated that such a journey should be avoided especially, this harmattan season with poor visibility everywhere.
