A rare ‘AA8’ number plate just sold for $9.5 million at a charity auction, the price of three (3) Bugatti Chirons.

The rare car number plate was sold last month during the Most Noble Numbers charity auction in Dubai.

Plates sold at the event included AA8, F55, V66 and Y66, all of which went for more than $12.5 million.

The event was jointly organised by Emirates Auction, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority and Abu Dhabi Police.





Money raised at the event goes towards the 1 Billion Meals campaign, which aims to feed communities in 50+ countries.

A rare ‘AA8‘ number plate sold for a staggering AED35 million (about US$9.5 million) last month during the Most Noble Numbers charity auction in oil rich Dubai, in United Arab Emirates

To put the price into perspective, you could buy three (3) brand new Bugatti Chirons, an hypercar that has a starting price of $3.1 million, excluding destination and local taxes.

Car number plates sold at the event included AA8, F55, V66 and Y66, all of which went for more than Dh46m ($12.5 million) .





The event was jointly organised by Emirates Auction, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority and Abu Dhabi Police.

All the money raised from the auctions will go towards the 1 Billion Meals campaign, which aims to feed communities in more than 50 countries worldwide.

Last months auction comes nearly 11-months after an unnamed buyer paid a cool $10 million (Dh38 million) to own a rare Dubai Number Plate ‘AA9’ during a rare Most Noble Numbers charity event in May, 2021.

But these amounts still trails the earth-shattering prices which a collector, Saeed Abdul Ghaffar Khouri, paid to own the ‘1’, the most expensive number plate in the world.

The ‘1’ registration plate was sold to Saeed Abdul Ghaffar Khouri for Dh52 million ($14 million) in 2008 during a number plate auction organised by Emirates Auction Company.
