Weaker business in China and US tariffs contributed to a 10 percent drop in sales of Mercedes-Benz vehicles last year, the Stuttgart-based company announced.

Sales of cars decreased by nine percent, and vans by 11 percent, according to the data.

The German manufacturer sold a total of around 2,160,000 cars and vans last year, DPA reports.

Fully electric models accounted for slightly less than 10 percent of the brand’s vehicles sold.

In China, where Mercedes delivered almost a third of all cars, i.e., 551,900 vehicles, the drop was particularly pronounced and amounted to 19 percent.

In Germany, “Mercedes” remained at the level of the previous year with 213,200 vehicles sold.
