UN’s Armored Toyota Land Cruiser Struck By Kamikaze Drones While Delivering Aid In Ukraine, See The Aftermath

United Nations (UN) armored Toyota Land Cruiser hit twice by Kamikaze drones while delivering aid in Ukraine, see the aftermath. 

No casualties were reported among the nine UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) staff traveling in the convoy. 

UN boasts a fleet of Toyota Land Cruiser, which are typically up-armored by specialized defense and security manufacturers. 

Moment before the strike

A trending video shared by the United Nations (UN) captures the moment one of the agency’s humanitarian vehicle was struck by Kamikaze drone while delivering supplies to civilians living in Ostriv, one of the hardest-hit areas of Kherson in western Ukraine.

While no casualties were reported among the nine UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) staff, the same cannot be said for the vehicle traveling in the convoy hit by the kamikazee drone.

Photo and video of the aftermath shared by the United Nations shows that the UN-marked Toyota Land Cruiser was clearly damaged during the drone strikes on May 14th.

While the UN vehicle was hit at the rear in the first attack, another video shows the moment the same SUV was struck at the front by another drone while parked at a lot.

“The Secretary-General reiterates that international law, including international humanitarian law, must be respected at all times,” the UN said in a statement.

“Civilians and civilian objects, including humanitarian relief personnel and objects used for humanitarian relief operations, must be respected and protected at all times,” it added.

The UN said that the attack came as Russian forces launched nearly 800 drones and 56 missiles across Ukraine overnight, primarily targeting Kyiv.
