Retro-style 2027 Nissan Pathfinder Special Edition Celebrates 40 Years Of Family Adventures

Japanese automaker Nissan has unveiled the 2027 Pathfinder Special Edition, a retro-inspired SUV created to celebrate four decades of family adventures, with unique styling cues drawn from the original 1987 model.
The anniversary edition pays tribute to the first-generation Pathfinder, which debuted for the 1987 model year. Across five generations, Pathfinder has evolved from a compact two-door SUV into a spacious three-row family vehicle while retaining its rugged character.

On the outside, the Special Edition features black 20-inch alloy wheels and red accents, including distinctive “PATHFINDER” lettering on the tailgate. These details give the anniversary model a unique appearance while distinguishing it from other versions in the lineup.
Inside, the SUV features a two-tone black and burgundy interior finished in TailorFit materials, inspired by the burgundy cloth seats of the original Pathfinder. Other highlights include a panoramic moonroof, second-row captain’s chairs, and a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system.

Under the bonnet, the 2027 Pathfinder retains a 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque. Towing capacity starts at 3,500 pounds (1,588 kg) and can reach 6,000 pounds (2,722 kg), depending on configuration.
The Special Edition joins the Pathfinder lineup alongside the rugged Rock Creek and premium Platinum variants. It starts at $47,390 with front-wheel drive and $49,390 with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. The 2027 Pathfinder is scheduled to arrive at dealerships in November 2026.

“The Pathfinder Special Edition celebrates that legacy by connecting one of our most beloved nameplates with the customers and adventures that shaped its story,” said Marco Fioravanti, vice president of product planning for Nissan U.S. and Canada.
Nissan says nine out of 10 Pathfinders sold over the past 10 years are still on the road. The SUV has also been named a “Best New Vehicle for Teens” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and Consumer Reports, reinforcing its family-focused appeal.
