Lexus RZ Gets Entry-Level Model In The Guise Of The RZ 300e

Lexus just announced a new entry-level configuration of its RZ lineup. It’s called the RZ 300e and sits under the RZ 450e, offering a cheaper entry point for the model. It’s FWD as opposed to the AWD 450e, and offers a longer range. But first things first.

The RZ 300e employs a single front-mounted 150 kW motor, just like the base Toyota bZ4X, and runs on the same 72.8 kWh battery found in the bZ4X. It’s supplied by CATL and despite the modest capacity increase, the 300e offers a slightly longer range.

With the 18-inch wheels, the RZ 300e can go 428 km away from the plug while the 450e 18-inch option does just 354 km, according to EPA. The reason for this is the more power-hungry AWD system in the 450e configuration.

When it comes to pricing, the 300e starts at €50,300 and goes up to €55,660 for the Luxury trim, while the RZ 450e is now priced a bit higher, starting at €54,700 and going up to €60,040 for the same Luxury trim. Those price tags are without the destination charge for US customers; the final pricing and detailed breakdown are in the table below.

Model Effective Price
Lexus RZ 300e Premium FWD $55,150
Lexus RZ 300e Luxury FWD $60,880
Lexus RZ 450e Premium AWD $59,850
Lexus RZ 450e Luxury AWD $65,580

When it comes to charging, Toyota says the RZ 300e can charge from 0 to 80% in about 30-35 minutes on a fast DC charger, while an AC plug delivers 0 to 100% in 9.5 hours.

Production is already underway, and the RZ 300e model will be available starting this month.
