The Alaafin (Emperor) of Oyo, Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, is the 43rd Alaafin of Oyo.

He has held this position since succeeding the Alaafin Gbadegesin Ladigbolu II in 18 November 1970.

The Alaafin of Oyo, one of the highest-ranking monarchs in Yorubaland, is the permanent Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, the Grand Custodian of Yoruba Culture and Tradition and the Emperor of Yorubas.

Oba Adeyemi III’s father, Oba Adeyemi II Adeniran, was also an Alaafin of Oyo. Adeyemi II was succeeded by Adeyemi III’s predecessor, the Alaafin Gbadegesin Ladigbolu II.

Earlier this year, the 82 year old monarch celebrated his 50th year on the throne. Last year, as part of activities to mark his 49th coronation anniversary, the monarch installed Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate as the Mayegun of Yorubaland — a title the renowned Fuji Musician celebrated by gifting himself a brand new Rolls-Royce Ghost.

The Alaafin of Oyo is married to many wives, with Ayaba Abibat Adeyemi, being the most senior.

He attends most events with her or with one of the twelve junior wives that he’s also married to.

Alaafin Of Oyo Oba Lamidi Adeyemi has several luxury cars in his collection. The monarch has turned up at ceremonies in style in some of the finest rides on the road.

Last year, the Alaafin of Oyo, accompanied by some of his Queens, was chauffeured to the ceremony in his latest ride, a Mercedes-Benz S500. He also has a Lexus LX 570, customized Limousine, and a Toyota Land Cruiser sports utility vehicle (SUV).

But his latest ride, a Lexus LX 570 SUV, which was reportedly gifted to the first class king, is the most rugged and his most favorite in his collection.

The full-size luxury SUV is based on the Land Cruiser and it combines luxury and ruggedness in its DNA. It also boasts premium features, including leather-trimmed seats and power-operated second and third rows.

It also has a four-zone air conditioning, navigation, advanced 360º Perimeter security CCTV and cup holders.

Standard active safety features includes : lane departure warning, full-speed adaptive cruise control, and a blind spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert.

Powering this luxury mobile bunker is 5.7-liter V8 rated to produce 383-horsepower and 403 lb.-ft. of torque.
