The EU Aims To Use Ai And Driverless Vehicles To Save The European Auto Sector
The European Union wants to save Europe’s car industry with autonomous cars with artificial intelligence to be allowed in many cities in a huge new investment.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is launching a new initiative to save the automotive industry and wants to introduce huge investments in self-driving cars.
– Self-driving cars are already a reality in the US and China. Why is the same not true here in Europe? asks Ursula von der Leyen.
In her speech at the Italian Tech Week in Turin, Italy, she highlighted the large investment in artificial intelligence, of which cars are an important part. Now the head of the EU wants autonomous cars to be legalized in many cities and quickly.
– Cars with artificial intelligence can reduce traffic congestion, connect remote areas with public transport, and make our roads safer. AI means safety first. So why not establish a network of European cities where the first autonomous cars can hit the roads?
The initiative to allow autonomous cars in EU cities should happen as soon as possible, says von der Leyen.
– So, my friends, let’s make it happen. It is possible, and let’s start now. We are ready to support the automotive industry in the development of innovative models that are produced in Europe and built for European streets. The automotive industry is Europe’s pride. At the same time, new technology can save jobs and give the sector a new lease of life.
