From the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost, to Hongqi H9 and Hummer EV, check out 12 of the best cars unveiled in 2020.

Automakers, including Bugatti, Rolls-Royce and Mercedes, didn’t let the deadly coronavirus (Covid-19) disease sweeping across the globe to scupper their plans in 2020.

With several autoshows canceled due to travel restrictions and social distancing, automakers and tuners were forced to go online to unveil some of their finest products.

With just a day to the end of the twenty twenty calendar year, we went through our archives to bring you some of these amazing cars in order to brighten up your day.





From the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost, to Hongqi H9 and Hummer EV, check out 12 of the best cars unveiled in 2020.

1) Sony Vision S

In January, Electronics giant Sony shocked the motoring industry by unveiling its first car called Vision S.

The Play Station 4 maker collaborated with Bosch, Nvidia, Continental, ZF and Qualcomm to make the self-driving car showcar.

Kenichiro Yoshida, chief executive of Sony, said:

“This prototype embodies our contribution to the future of mobility.





“We believe that the evolution of mobility will also redefine cars as a new entertainment space.

“We are excited at about the road ahead.”

2) Bugatti Bolide

The Bolide track monster is Bugatti’s answer to the Mercedes-AMG Project One and Aston Martin Valkyrie. According to Bugatti, the Bolide is :

“the most extreme, uncompromising, fastest and lightest vehicle concept in the company’s recent history.”

Bugatti hasn’t said whether the Bolide will go into production. But if it ever does, experts expects it will have a asking price in the region of $10 million.

3) Rolls-Royce Ghost

British luxury automaker Rolls-Royce officially unveiled the all-new second-generation its impressive Ghost luxury sedan in September after series of teases campaign.

The all-new 2021 Ghost sedan is the most technologically advanced Rolls-Royce yet. It replaces the most successful model in the company’s 116-year history.

4) Hongqi H9

Hongqi, the premium car brand of China’s FAW group, also debuted the much-awaited Hongqi H9 full-sized ultra-luxury sedan.

The H9, designed to rival models like the Rolls-Royce Ghost, Mercedes S-Class, and the BMW 7-Series, was recently launched into Dubai.

5) 2021 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class

2021 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is one of the best cars unveiled in 2020

The all-new 2021 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class was unveiled in November as the pinnacle of the new luxury saloon range after months of teasing and spy shots.

Mercedes’ Maybach S-Class is specially designed to compete with ultra-luxury four-doors sedans like the Bentley Flying Spur and Rolls-Royce Ghost.

6) Nissan Ariya

Japanese automaker Nissan in July debuted its all-electric Ariya SUV during an online event on Wednesday.

The Nissan Ariya, the company’s second EV and its first electric SUV, will start at $40,000; which is relatively cheaper than its competitors like the Ford Mustang Mach-E or the Tesla Model Y.

7) Cadillac Lyriq

Cadillac in August, unveiled the Lyriq Crossover SUV, its first-ever all-electric car, with 300-Miles range and a massive 33-inch infotainment screen.

The Lyriq Crossover SUV will compete with the all-electric cars like the Audi e-tron and Tesla Model X and Y.

8) GMC Hummer Electric Super Truck

GMC electric Hummer is dubbed the world’s first zero emissions, zero limits all-electric supertruck. It replaces the boxy, gas-guzzling and polluting truck that was retired in 2010.

Features on the ecofriendly truck include GM’s self-driving technology, Super Cruise, that allows the truck to drive partly autonomously.

9) Nigerian Assembled Hyundai Kona

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Friday November 13th, 2020, unveiled the Hyundai Kona EV, the first locally-assembled electric vehicle into the Nigerian market.

The award-winning car was launched at the Stallion-VON Automobiles Nig. LTD, at Ojo, Lagos. This is also the site where the vehicle was assembled.

The electric SUV will surely change things positively in the Nigerian auto market.

The driving range for Kona Electric is 482 km with an acceleration of (0-100kms) in 9.7 secs.

10) Nigerian Assembled Renault Cars

Coscharis Motors recently debut it’s Renault assembly plant with locally assembled Renault Duster and Logan.

For the Duster, customers can choose from 1.6-Litre to 2.0Litre engine but whichever engine, it is built with a robust off-roader looks. With the superb ground clearance, the Duster is a practical vehicle for the Nigerian road.

New Renault Logan has an even more modern and dynamic design. With redesigned front and rear end panels featuring the new Renault brand light signature.

Apart from the locally assembled cars, Coscharis also introduced the fully – built Renault Koleos and Kwid into the Nigerian market.

11) Nord Tank

Earlier this month, Nigerian Automaker, NORD, unveiled 5 car models as it began its quests to be the biggest automaker in Nigeria.

One of the Nigerian branded vehicles that was unveiled during the event was the Nord Tank. The hulky truck will compete with Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi L200, Ford Ranger, Leopaard CT7 and INNOSON IVM Carrier 4×4.

12) 2021 Genesis GV70 SUV

Hyundai’s luxury brand, Genesis also revealed first photos of the all-new 2021 GV70 compact luxury SUV.

The GV70, the premium brand’s fifth model and its second SUV, will slot under the bigger mid-size GV80.

It will rival compact luxury SUVs such as the BMW X3, Audi Q5, Acura RDX and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class.
