2021 Lexus ES Gets AWD And A New Black Line Special Edition

Well, it seems that Toyota is not the only one getting all the Black editions we’ve been seeing as the 2021 Lexus ES has joined the train. Not only that, but the ES will also come equipped with an All-Wheel-drive system seen in the Camry. The 2021 model is the 1st ES to come with AWD as front and rear-wheel drive were already available. Although based on the Camry, the Lexus ES is more related to the Avalon as they share similar dimensions.

With this in mind, there’s now a catch. The AWD system like its Toyota cousin will only be available in the 4-cylinder variant. The 4-cylinder, the ES250 comes with a 2.5-litre that outputs 203 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. It is noted that this 4-cylinder engine is not as powerful as the 3.5 V6 but it’s more fuel-efficient. As it is mated with the AWD system it sends up to 50 per cent of engine torque to the rear wheels. The system responds to acceleration and slippage and is disengaged to prioritize fuel efficiency when all-wheel isn’t needed.

Every other feature and interior still remains untouched but to end it all, Lexus introduces the Black Line Special Edition. This Black Line model is limited to only 1500 units and it’s loosely based on the F-Sport trim level. The Black Line will come with a set of travel cases designed by Zero Halliburton. The special edition features an Obsidian, Ultra White or Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0 exterior with black mirrors, a black spoiler and dark wheels. The model also has a black and white interior with grey contrast stitching.
