Chinese automaker Hongqi debut 3-seat L-Concept limousine with rear suicide doors and no steering wheel.
The futuristic concept previews the upcoming replacement for the L5.
Local medias have reported that a production version could be available for purchase in two years time.
When it enters the market, the luxury car will join models from Hongqi, including the H9 and the L5.


Automaker Hongqi, the premium car brand of Chinese FAW group, has unveiled its L-Concept limousine at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show 2021. The concept previews the upcoming replacement for the L5. The L5, first introduced in 2014, serves as an official state car of China.
The two-tone finished futuristic full-size four-door sedan boasts several impressive and distinct features, including a fastback roofline and rear suicide doors.

Inside, the Hongqi L-Concept features no steering wheel, suggesting the concept may have autonomous driving system, as well as just three-seats. Two of these seats are found in the rear while the third seat is the driver’s.
Will these futuristic Hongqi L-Concept make production? Hongqi hasn’t said anything on that, but some Chinese media have reported that a production version could be available for purchase in two years time.
When it enters the market, the luxury car will join models from Hongqi that are designed to steal customers from brands like Rolls-Royce and Bentley. These includes the H9 and the L5.
