Land Rover Gives Dozens Of Defender SUVs To The Red Cross To Help Fight Coronavirus (Photos)

British automaker Land Rover has loaned dozens of Defender demo vehicles to the Red Cross to help fight against coronavirus.

Automakers around the world are also doing their part to help curtail the spread of the deadly COVID-19.

Some have announced their plans to repurpose their assembly lines to manufacture ventilators and other medical kits like face masks that are in short supplies.

The latest to come out is Land Rover, who announced on Thursday that it would be lending its fleet Defender SUVs to the Red Cross to help fight against Coronavirus.

“As the world faces an extraordinary challenge, LandRover is focusing efforts towards supporting our global communities in the fight against Covid19 by providing vehicles and expertise to emergency services and organisations like ​our partners the Red Cross”

The brand’s public relations director, Richard Agnew, followed up the tweet with :

“We’ve quickly redeployed the Defender press fleet to support our partners at the Red Cross to help communities across the UK,”

Land Rover initially planned to hand over the second press fleet to automotive journalists for them to review the new off-roader.

The first set of press fleet was sent to Africa for testing several months ago.

Working with the Red Cross is not new for Land Rover. The British brand has been involved with the humanitarian network for over 60 years.
