The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), which came into existence in February 2007, is responsible for the overall co-ordination of emergency management in Lagos.
The Agency is charged to provide adequate and prompt response as well as sustaining intervention in all forms of emergency/disaster situations in the State within the territorial boundary called “Lagos”.

LASEMA recently celebrated the International Firefighters’ Day by showing Lagosians how it responds to emergency situations, be it a fire or motor accident, with just a phone call.
The International Firefighters’ Day is observed each year on 4th May and on this date, the past firefighters who have died while serving our community are remembered for protecting us.

In a short clip first shared by LASEMA on May 4 to mark the International Firefighters’ Day, the agency shared the behind the scenes showing how its Rescue Units reacts to emergency calls.
In addition to showing how it deploys its fire engines that are followed by motorcycle escorts, the agency also reminded Lagosians that dialing its numbers during emergency situations could save one or many lives.

Back in April, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said it responded to 384 cases across all the local governments and LCDAs within the Lagos from January to March, 2021.
During the first three months of 2021, the agency responded to emergency cases, including 136 road accidents, 48 fire disasters, and 160 cases involving trailer/trucks.
