LAMATA and NRC strengthens partnership, announce plan to integrate ticketing system to enhance connectivity.
NRC boss, Kayode Opeifa, disclosed this on Monday during a visit to LAMATA’s rail infrastructure.
During the visit, Opeifa and his delegation toured key facilities, including the iconic Marina Train Station.
Also visited is the Blue Line Independent Power Plant (IPP), the Red Line’s Oyingbo Station, and the Security Control Center.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) is working closely with the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) on the adoption of an electronic fare collection system to better improve revenue protection and passenger convenience.
The Managing Director of NRC, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, disclosed this on Monday during a visit to LAMATA’s rail infrastructure, where he was received by LAMATA’s Managing Director, Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo.

Speaking during the visit, Opeifa revealed that NRC is developing a ticketing system that will integrate the federal payment gateway with the state’s electronic payment system, thereby ensuring greater convenience for commuters.

During the visit, Opeifa and his delegation toured key facilities, including the iconic Marina Train Station, the Blue Line Independent Power Plant (IPP), the Red Line’s Oyingbo Station, and the Security Control Center.
In her remarks, Akinajo emphasized that LAMATA remains focused on connectivity and seamless integration, especially at strategic interchanges such as Agbado and Agege, which will provide commuters with direct links to other key parts of Lagos.


She credited the agency’s achievements to the unwavering support of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu under the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, which prioritizes transportation and mobility.
LAMATA boss further highlighted that since its commencement, the Blue Line has consistently achieved over 99% uptime, underscoring the efficiency and reliability of Lagos’ modern rail system.
