Nigerian Army Takes Delivery Of 17 Main Battle Tanks & High Grade Artillery Vehicles To Fight Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army has taken delivery of 17 main battle tanks and high grade artillery vehicles to boost the fight against Boko Haram.

Also on 12th November 2019, Nigerian Army ordered 28 locally made Ezugwu armoured personnel carriers for counter terrorism/insurgency missions. The Army said the move is in line with the Federal Government of Nigeria local content policy. It aims to reduce the our reliance on foreign countries.

Few years ago, the Chairman of Innoson Group, Chief Dr Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma OFR, presented the new IVM G12 to the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen T Y Buratai at the Tactical Headquarters of Operations in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Boko haram was founded by Mohammed Yusuf in 2002, the group has been led by Abubakar Shekau since 2009. When Boko Haram first formed, their actions were nonviolent. Their main goal was to purify Islam in northern Nigeria. Since March 2015, the group has been aligned with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
