Genesis Teases G80 Ahead Of Launch (Photos)
Genesis is at it again as they have teased photos of the G80 sedan ahead of its launch this month. The styling is heavily inspired by the GV80 SUV that was launched not too long ago. The G80 will use a new engine, and specs that are totally different from the old model. Genesis is keeping specifications under wraps but confirmed the G80 rides on an all-new platform and features as well as high-tech systems.
Genesis has been killing it in the design department lately and the new G80 is the last of its models to be brought bang up to date with the brand’s new “Athletic Elegance” design language. The side features a long sweeping Parabolic Line from front to rear flowing gently downwards, evoking the elegance of classic cars of the past. This is counterbalanced with an upswept chrome line to maintain directional posture. The sharp athletic power lines of the front and rear fenders emphasize the powerful stance of the 20-inch wheels. The rear image is defined by the Quadlamps and the horseshoe-shaped negative surface of the decklid. The trunk release button and surrounding chrome garnish mimic the shape of the Genesis logo to reassert the brand’s visual identity.
Inside, the G80 also appears to steal plenty of details from its bigger SUV sibling. These include the massive landscape 14.5-inch touchscreen display and ash wood trim throughout the dash. Other cues such as the pressure-sensitive rotary dial in the center console and contrasting leather colors also carry over from the GV80. We can expect a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with around 290 hp, as well as a 3.5-liter V6 getting more than 370 hp, powering either the rear wheels or all four through an 8-speed automatic.
