Toyota Expands The Trim Levels Of The Land Cruiser 250 (Prado)
Toyota is further expanding the appeal of the Land Cruiser 250 in Europe and has announced that the 2026 model will be available in two new versions, including one similar to the 1958 version sold in the US.
The VX model is aimed at off-road driving. It gets the same classic round headlights as the 1958 American Land Cruiser and also has the signature Smoky Blue metallic paint. Among the novelties are roof racks and 18-inch alloy wheels, but, more importantly, there is an electronic locking rear differential and a front anti-roll bar that can be switched off, improving the articulation of the wheels.
The Land Cruiser VX features Hill Descent Assist and Crawl Control, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a cooled rear compartment. For those planning serious adventures, the VX is the model for them.
Above the VX in the Land Cruiser 250 lineup is the VX-L, which includes heated and ventilated power-adjustable leather seats for the driver and front passenger. Toyota also added a 14-speaker JBL audio system, head-up display, digital mirror, sunroof, and 20-inch wheels. If customers wish, the VX-L can be configured with a fixed panoramic sunroof instead of a sunroof. Also, instead of an electronic locking rear differential, there is a Torsen limited-slip differential.
At the bottom of the range in Europe is still the Land Cruiser 250 TX with 18-inch wheels, cloth upholstery, side steps, fenders, and a reversing camera. A slightly more luxurious version, called the TX-L, is also available, adding synthetic-leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and drive-mode selection.
In Western Europe, the Toyota Land Cruiser 250 is sold exclusively with Toyota’s 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine with 48-volt mild hybrid technology. In Eastern Europe, the new VX and VX-L models can be equipped with either a non-electrified 2.8-liter diesel engine or a 2.4-liter turbo-petrol.
