Air Peace Orders 30 Brand New E195-E2 Jets In $2.1bn Deal, Becomes The First E195-E2 Operator In Africa
Brazilian planemaker Embraer SA on Wednesday signed a $2.1 billion ( ₦757 billion ) deal to deliver 10 E195-E2 jets to Nigeria’s largest airline ,Air Peace.
The order was announced during the Embraer’s Africa Airline Business Seminar, in Mauritius.With this order, Air Peace will become the first E-Jets E2 operator in Africa.
The contract includes purchase rights for a further 20 E195-E2. With all purchase rights being exercised, the contract has a value of USD $2.12 billion, based on current list prices. The order will be included in Embraer’s 2019 second-quarter backlog.
Air Peace Chairman/CEO, Mr. Allen Onyema, said
“Embraer’s new E195-E2 presents us with a marvel of economic performance. It’s also great that we will be the first E2 operator on the African continent. We already have the ERJ145s in our fleet, so we understand the high standards of Embraer products”
The Chairman also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for creating an enabling environment for the growth of aviation in Nigeria through waving customs duties on commercial aircraft, engines and spares as well as granting value-added tax (VAT) waiver. He said:
“Without these noble gestures from my President, Muhammadu Buhari, Air Peace would not have been able to achieve this growth”
The E195-E2 jets is Embraer’s largest commercial jet to date.It can accommodate 146 passengers in a one-class configuration while the three-cabin configuration would offer 120 seats.
